Over the past development cycle, we completed one of Millowi's largest quality-focused updates so far.

This update concentrates on making everyday interactions faster, preserving user progress, reducing notification noise, improving safety controls, and giving people more expressive ways to share what they create and what they are doing.

A better start for new users

Millowi's original signup experience has been replaced with a cleaner, purpose-built design that feels like part of the platform rather than a default framework page.

After verifying their email, new users now receive lightweight onboarding where they can discover communities and follow interesting people. We also fixed case-insensitive login while ensuring unverified accounts cannot bypass email verification.

Discover and Following

The feed is now divided more clearly:

• Discover shows content from across Millowi.
• Following shows posts and reposts from people you follow.

The existing New, Hot, Top, and Rising sorting options remain available, so people can still choose how they explore each feed.

Feed continuity

Opening a post should not mean losing your place.

Millowi now remembers the selected feed, sorting mode, loaded pages, and scroll position when you open a post and return. Deep feed sessions are safely capped to avoid reconstructing an excessively large response while still returning users to a stable position.

Faster interactions

Reactions, bookmarks, reposts, and follows now update immediately instead of waiting for the network.

If an action fails, Millowi quietly restores the previous state and explains what happened. The result is a feed that feels faster and more responsive without sacrificing reliability.

Branded post sharing

Sharing a Millowi post no longer means sending an ordinary-looking link.

The Share button now opens a dedicated preview with a branded Millowi card containing the post title, community, author, avatar, and visual identity. Emojis are rendered properly, and posts containing a YouTube video use the video's thumbnail with a clear play treatment instead of displaying the raw URL.

Two formats are available:

• Post card creates a 1200 × 630 image designed for rich link previews and general sharing.
• Story card creates a 1080 × 1920 vertical image designed for Instagram Stories and other vertical formats.

People can share the selected image through their device, download it, share the original link, or copy the link. The regular landscape card remains the default for link previews, while the vertical version is an optional format for story-style sharing. Both lead people back to the original Millowi post.

Stories

Millowi now has its own Stories experience for quick, visual updates.

People can upload an image with an optional caption, see Stories from accounts they follow in the home tray, and move through a creator's active Stories in a focused viewer. New and already-viewed Stories are visually distinguished, and each Story remains active for 24 hours before moving into the creator's private archive.

Story creators can see who viewed their posts, remove Stories, and revisit archived items. Other people can reply directly through messages or report inappropriate content for moderation. Existing blocking and visibility rules also apply to Story access.

Profile statuses

Profiles can now carry a short, temporary status for lightweight updates that do not need a full post.

A status can contain up to 30 characters and appears as a speech bubble around the author's profile presence, including the Stories area on the homepage. It can be edited or removed at any time and automatically expires after 24 hours.

Together, Stories and statuses give people two smaller ways to stay present: a visual moment when a photo says more, and a quick line of text when that is all they need.

Draft protection

Post and comment drafts are now saved automatically.

Text survives accidental refreshes, back navigation, browser interruptions, crashes, and unstable connections. Draft saving stays out of the way, with only a subtle confirmation when needed.

Cleaner notifications

Repeated activity is now grouped into summaries such as “8 people liked your post,” reducing notification noise without adding more screens.

We also improved notification destinations so opening an alert takes people more reliably to the relevant conversation or activity.

Protection against duplicate submissions

Posts and comments now use idempotency keys.

If a slow connection retries the same request, the server can recognize it and return the original result instead of creating duplicate content. Submission controls also lock immediately after being pressed.

Safer community interactions

Reporting and blocking flows received another consistency pass, and Stories were built with reporting, visibility, and ownership controls from the beginning. Duplicate open reports are prevented, rate limits reduce abuse, and Story replies respect the same account-blocking rules as the rest of Millowi.

Smaller consistency improvements

We also cleaned up inconsistent page titles, empty states, sorting labels, profile actions, community labels, and retiring the previous “Trendings”.
